Friends of Nature and IPE Support SRL's Green Choice Audit
April 6, 2010: Shanghai Richina Leather Company, Ltd. (SRL) announces plans to participate in an independent Green Selection Audit sponsored by Beijing based NGO, Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs.
The audit will be conducted by AECOM, a leading environmental audit group with a strong record of successfully completed air emission and odor management audits in China. Their clients include Stanley Works, BP China, Levi, ATT, Gap and Shell Oil. The audit will take place in April 2010 at SRL's Shanghai operations in Baoshan, Shanghai.
On February 1, Shanghai Richina President and CEO Bob Moore met in Beijing with Majun, Director of IPE, and Libo, Director of Friends of Nature to discuss plans for the April audit. In addition, they discussed other 2010 green initiatives that SRL plans to embark on with the community and other local Baoshan based businesses.
According to Moore, "SRL is fully compliant with China and Shanghai EPB standards and regulations, and we've taken this independent action with the support of the two leading Beijing NGO's to further demonstrate SRL's commitment to air, water and general environmental excellence."
AECOM's Weiqing Fend will serve as project manager for the audit. SRL's Quality Manager Hellen Xia is coordinating the audit activities, working with Mr. Feng and senior AECOM consultant Helen Hu. Will Clem from the South China Morning Post has been invited to join the audit monitoring team. IPE will also have a senior manager from Beijing at SRL to monitor and supervise the activities.
