Richina Managing Director Meets with Liaoning Province Governor on Shanghai Richina Leather Project
July 17, 2009: Wenzhou, PRC: Richard Yan, Managing Director of Richina, Inc. and Governor Chen ZhengGao of Liaoning province met to formally discuss a future Liaoning project being planned by Shanghai Richina Leather Co., Ltd. (SRL), a subsidiary of Richina, Inc. The meetings included Pan GuoLi, Mayor of Fuxin, Robert Liu, Chief Financial Officer of Shanghai Richina, and other senior government officials.
According to Richard Yan, "SRL has a most unique experience of being the only leather company in the world that produces footwear, garment and auto upholstery leather, and has a long experience of producing premium wet blue as well. With Fuxin's plans to create a state of the art leather-making zone utilizing world class environmental technology, Shanghai Richina is positioned to help Fuxin reach its goal. The region is rich with auto and footwear production, and we expect continued industry sector growth in this northern China area."
Bob Moore, President and CEO of Richina Industries visited the new Fuxin zone several times, and commented, " Shanghai Richina Leather continues to evaluate strategic options to broader its value chain. We are attracted to Fuxin as a place to create a world-class wet blue leather facility that would supply SRL's leather making businesses. Mayor Pan GuoLi and his staff have provided us with phenomenal support as we assess this opportunity and investment."
A formal announcement of SRL's expansion plans is expected shortly,as the final details of the new agreement are worked out with Liaoning and Fuxin government officials.
Shanghai Richina Leather Co., Ltd is headquarted in Shanghai, China and produces auto, garment and footwear leather for global brands including Nike, Cole Haan, Johnston and Murphy, Calvin Klein, Merrell, Clarks, Born, HH Brown, Sperry Topsider and Wolverine. SRL recently announced the signing of a joint venture agreement with GST Autoleather to produce car seat leather to support the expanding China market for Toyota, Chery, Peugeot, Citroen and other major auto companies. SRL is BLC Silver certified, and ISO 9001, 14001 and TS 16949 rated.
