2009 Awards
At the Property Council Awards on 25 th June, Mainzeal as the Construction Business partner, received recognition at the PCNZ Awards, with an Excellence Award in the Green Buildings category for Sovereign House, Smales Farm, Takapuna owned by Northcote Rd 1 Holdings Ltd (the Smale family). Having also received the RMB National Award in 2008 and the PCNZ Gib Commercial Office Award 2008 , it is evident that such State of the Art projects are testament to the commitment coming through in Design and Construction to sustainability in the industry.
Mainzeal as project partner for Te Kopahou Interpretation Centre at Owhiro Bay Parade, Wellington also received a Merit Award in the Special Purpose Category. The Te Kopahou Interpretation Centre is an impressive building designed to create a sheltered portal to the coast environment. This exceptional structure also won the 2008 Wellington Civic Trust Award for the Best Environmental Project and the 2008 NZ Recreational Association Award for Outstanding Park .
Mainzeal are proud to have been part of these Award winning projects. Over the past year Mainzeal has undertaken a number of steps that will ensure the business remains at the forefront of sustainable construction. These developments are aimed at significantly reducing the embodied and operational energy of buildings - cutting edge innovations that contribute directly to affordable, comfortable, healthy and sustainable buildings.
Mainzeal have also this year also received recognition in Sustainability with h aving recently been recognized as the first in the construction industry, in the 19 year history of the Green Ribbon Awards , to receive an Award in the Category of "Businesses making a difference ".
In addition, we were delighted to also receive recently as project partners, an Award in the Large Projects category of the IPENZ Arthur Mead Award , for the Environment and Sustainability, with the 4000m 2 state of the art Visy Material Recovery Facility (MRF), which is the first of its kind in New Zealand.
